Taken by President Polk by Victoria Woodhull-HayesBefore he annexed Texas, he annexed…her body!

Only Kirsten could fall in love with a man like Silas, an 1890s inventor who has found a way to log into 21st century social media. The clockwork device he rigs up is supposed to propel the two of them into the same “dreamscape,” where they can finally consummate their passion across the decades. But when things don’t go quite as planned, Kirsten instead dreams her way into a bed in 1844, where she finds herself waiting to soothe the jangled nerves of James K. Polk, former governor of Tennessee and speaker for the House of Representatives, on the eve of his nomination as the Democratic party’s candidate to become our 11th president.

Polk was the most decisive, effective president of his era, and proves to be just as decisive and effective in bed! Middle-aged antebellum gentlemen with mullets aren’t exactly Kirsten’s cup of tea, and some of Polk’s politics are loathsome to the young history teacher, but it’s only a dream, after all, and she decides she might as well simply enjoy herself as the man who will soon be the most powerful president the country had even seen helps her manifest her destiny…
