It has occurred to me that my earlier introduction was more about my series and not so much about me. As a writer, talking about fictional worlds and characters just comes more naturally. When I have to talk about myself, I tend to either clam up or overshare (especially if there are adult beverages involved). The official author bio sums things up nicely, I think.
USA Today bestselling author Angela Roquet is a great big weirdo. She lives in Missouri with her husband and son in a house stuffed with books, toys, skulls, owls, and glitter-speckled craft supplies. Angela is a member of SFWA and HWA, as well as the Four Horsemen of the Bookocalypse, her epic book critique group, where she’s known as Death. When not swearing at the keyboard, she enjoys boating with her family at Lake of the Ozarks and reading books that raise eyebrows.
For the record, I’m known as “Death” because I write grim reapers. Not because I traumatize my critique circle with brutal feedback. I like to think I’m a fair and gentle crit partner. I’ve been with the horsemen for over 7 years, and I love them dearly.
If you’re an aspiring writer, I highly recommend joining or creating a small critique circle of your own. 3-5 writers in somewhat similar or adjacent genres. They don’t even have to live nearby. The horsemen all live in different states. Washington, Missouri, Michigan, and Tennessee. We trade our pages in a private Facebook group. It makes my introvert heart happy, although I do enjoy visiting with them at book conventions.
Freebie Time!
As I mentioned before, most of what I’ve written is urban fantasy. If you’re a free-range reader who enjoys a variety of genres, “Graveyard Shift” the first book in my Lana Harvey, Reapers Inc. series, and “Blood Vice” the first book in my Blood Vice series, are available for FREE at all the major e-bookstores. Kindle, Nook, Apple, Kobo, Google Play.
It’s a hard-knock afterlife…
Lana Harvey is a reaper, and a lousy one at that. She resides in Limbo City, the modern capital of the collective afterlives, where she likes to stick it to the man (the legendary Grim Reaper himself) by harvesting the bare minimum of souls required of her. She’d much rather be hanging out with Gabriel, her favorite archangel, at Purgatory Lounge. But when a shocking promotion falls in Lana’s lap, she learns something that could unravel the very fabric of Eternity. If the job isn’t completed, there could be some real hell to pay.
Supernatural crime, vampy romance, & a few loose screws…
Detective Jenna Skye bombs her first week on the St. Louis Vice Squad when she’s bitten by a vampire in a supernatural brothel. Her day only gets worse from there. She wakes up in the morgue and discovers that her partner is dead. Before the sun rises, she realizes she is too.
Jenna vows to continue their investigation until justice is served, but a werewolf squatter, an unexpected visit from her estranged sister, and a nosy FBI agent stand in her way. Not to mention her fresh aversion to sunlight and a thirst for something a little stiffer than revenge.
You can also nab “Blood Moon” the first book in my Spero Heights paranormal romance series, which ties in a bit with the Blood Vice series, and the short story I wrote for the Mrs. Dracula anthology “Bloodymoon” (lots of blood and moons, I know) for FREE by signing up for my newsletter here: https://angelaroquet.com/newsletter
