There’s so many classics that would clutter up the page if I listed them all, but just in brevity, my top three favorites:

  • The Time Machine (duh) by H.G. Wells
  • Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
  • The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson

In more modern days we’ve got:

Steampunk, an Anthology edited and produced by Ann and Jeff VanderMeer

This one I picked up paperback at a con, and I can’t even remember who I purchased it from! It may have been the publisher themselves, or a secondhand shop. It’s a great sampling of stories, and one in particular that just…

Mortal Engines by Philip Reeve

I mean, it’s got everything. Mostly everything. It’s got all the aesthetic! The movie though… ugh. Some books shouldn’t be touched. I’m not sure if this was one of them but, goodness this execution was just not good. Feel free to disagree below ^_^

Wild Wild West with Will Smith, Kevin Kline, and Salma Hayek

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120891

Perhaps it was the cheesy jokes, the massive robots, the costumes, the fun technology, or my crush on Will Smith, but I remember this movie with so much fondness. Might be time to revisit it.

Sucker Punch with Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudgens, and Jamie Chung

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0978764/

This movie is definitely on my top 50 visual media of all time (movies/tv shows). I know the plot this thin. I know the scenes are over the top. I KNOW it’s not the greatest movie, but that’s what makes it great. Sucker Punch knew what it was gonna be, and it went on about its bad self and did it well. It’s cute girls, in wicked cool battle scenes, with awesome music, and great costumes.

Alright guys, those are my quick picks. Drop yours below and let me know what you think of mine!
