Lete’s here now from Cate Masters. I love the title, btw. Sets up a lot of neat and scary ideas!! AZG

CTR: Please give us a short blurb on your book and where we can get a copy! Please include genre and overall rating, considering explicit content, realistic language, violence etc.

CM: My paranormal novella, One Soul for Sale, is available from Eternal Press: http://www.eternalpress.biz/book.php?isbn=9781926704043 or in print from Amazon.
It contains a few spooky battle scenes, but nothing violent or explicit.
Here’s the blurb: When Madelyn sells her soul on UBuy, she’s not ready for the hell that’s unleashed. All she really wants is to make a success of her art. But the gorgeous stranger who buys her soul for $666 asks her to perform a few tasks. Tests of her true worth, Madelyn thinks, as each brings her – and her cat Brutus – into greater danger. And closer to the frightening shadowy figure stalking her. On All Hallows Eve, her final test will open the gates of hell. Or is it heaven?

CTR: What inspired you to write this particular story? If this is your first book share why you chose this genre or setting and if it’s just your first in this style/genre what made you choose this as a new direction?

CM: It’s difficult to explain where the ideas for One Soul for Sale originated. It was one of those rare stories that tumbled from my head almost fully formed. The catalyst came from online bidding sites where people sometimes post outrageous items, including a soul once, I believe!

CTR: What do you think is the major appeal of the spooky, macabre and bizarre aspects of the paranormal? Do you think elements of horror can successfully blend with romance and form an appealing novel? Do you think fear and danger can be an aphrodisiac?

CM: For me, paranormal/fantasy stories allow my imagination free rein, which I love. The settings can be unbelievable, the characters amazing, but readers will accept that because it goes with the territory.
I don’t believe horror and romance are mutually exclusive, lol. A good writer can make any premise work! Fear and danger definitely heighten our senses, so I think it enhances a romance too.

CTR: What is your favorite paranormal theme or creature and why?

CM: I can never choose favorites, but I’d have to say angels and shifters. If it ties in with holidays or legends, all the better.

CTR: Do you have a funny or hair-raising tale to share about ghost stories at sleepovers when you were a kid, scaring the new kid at camp etc? Were you usually the scarer or the scare-ee?

CM: The funniest story is actually my husband’s. He and his brothers used to tease their only sister about The Hairy Hand, and scare the poor girl half to tears. One night, they lowered a fake hand outside her bedroom window, and said in spooky voices, “Beware the Hairy Hand!” She ran screaming to her parents! I’ve always loved to listen to scary stories, but probably scared myself more than anyone!

CTR: Is Halloween one of your favorite holidays? If so what do you like best about it? Do you usually dress up for work or to hand out treats or host a party? What’s your costume this year?

CM: Halloween’s second only to Christmas for me. I love Halloween decorations, and my house reflects it. The legends surrounding this holiday have always intrigued me. Halloween is when the barrier disappears between this world and the next, allowing souls to freely roam between. A time for mischief and mayhem. How to know whether a force is good or evil? Sometimes it’s difficult to tell – so that element is part of this story.
When my kids were little, I loved taking them out for trick or treat. We didn’t stay late, so I also loved handing out treats and seeing all the costumes of the kids. Sadly, since we moved away from town, we don’t celebrate as we used to, though I still decorate.

CTR: What else would you like to tell perspective readers about this book or others you have available?

CM: Reviews described One Soul for Sale as “outstanding,” a “riveting read… I couldn’t stop until I hit the last page.” You can view the trailer at http://www.youtube.com/user/catemasters?feature=mhw5#p/u/8/xoSq1O3g-wc
On my web site, readers can find excerpts, trailers, reviews and more about all my books, which range from paranormal/fantasy to contemporary and historical.

CTR: Where can we find more about you and your books?

Hi Cate!!! I already have you & your book on my book list, I can’t wait to get it so I can read it. I am constantly suprised at what people are selling on the “auction” sites and the prices they ask for are outragous. I haven’t seen a soul yet though. Thanks for talking with us today!!!

Hi Cate. What a great premise for a story.

I still love to decorate my house on Halloween and I don’t have any little ones. Lol. Just a kid at heart, I guess.

Best of luck with One Soul for Sale. 🙂

Oh my! What an interesting concept Cate! I love the sound of this novel. And UBuy? LOL. I love it! Totally off the wall but have you ever seen the movie Devil’s Food? It has Suzanne Somers in it. Here is the link to imdb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116093/ Anyway, it is a really cute movie and your novel reminds me a bit of the movie. My TBR pile is just getting longer and longer lol.

My kids are all grown (physically at least!) but I still decorate too, Mary. 🙂

I’ll have to check that out Danielle – thanks for the link! And your kind words.
