Interview with Robin Danner

Welcome, Robin Danner, the author of the Princes series. Thanks for being here today.

You have three youngsters. How do you manage time to write?

Honestly? Not very well! I work a day job too, so by the time we get home and get the boys fed, it’s close to eight o’clock before I even get to the computer. I try to squeeze in writing or promotion time every weekday, but it’s hard. Most of my writing takes place on weekends. Thankfully my nephew helps out by keeping the boys occupied while I work!

Well, bless his heart! Can you tell us a little about your newest release, The Princes Determined?

Sure! The Princes Determined is the second book in my latest series. Prince Talin and his bride-to-be, Rowena, have to learn to trust each other as they face the danger of the rebellion in Talin’s kingdom. In the first book, The Princes Bound, their wedding is interrupted by an assassination attempt. Book two picks up after Rowena’s father, who’s rumored to be behind the assassination, has disappeared. As Talin struggles with the rebellion, Rowena has to learn to trust her heart with a man.

This is the second book in the Princes series. What inspired you?

When I sat down to write the first book, I knew I wanted to write about two princes. I was actually inspired by the titles I came up with. Bound and Determined was a play on words I wanted to use and they describe Mathis and Talin’s stories perfectly.

I usually only have a general idea of the plot when I first start so I let the characters write their own story. The third in the series, The Princes Knighted, was actually inspired by my husband. He gave a suggestion and I ran with it, which was awesome because Hugh is one of my favorite characters in the series.

Do you have a favorite character in this book or in the series?

Oops, I gave away the answer already! Yes, I do. Hugh d’Arcy is the grandson of Talin’s chief advisor. He appears in the first two books, but he gets his own story in The Princes Knighted. In The Princes Determined, Hugh is about to turn eighteen and soon to be knighted by Talin. Hugh has known the princes his entire life and is looked upon as a favorite by Talin. His story has a twist that I bet no one sees coming!

Oooh, intriguing. What’s the hardest part of the process for you–writing, editing or marketing?

Marketing – hands down! Writing is not easy of course, but I spend so many hours staring at the computer wondering how I can increase sales and having no clue where to start. I actually think I spend more hours trying to promote than I do in actual writing.

You write different subgenres under different names (sweet and sexy historicals, romantic comedy, contemporary). So I have to ask: if you were stranded on a desert island, what three books would you take?

I don’t know any actual titles, but something along the lines of “Edible Plants”, “How to Build a Raft”, and “Building Huts for Dummies.” What can I say? I’m a practical gal! ; )

Do you use social media? If so, what are the links?

I do use it. My links are:

Twitter | Facebook | Goodreads

What’s next for you?

Next up is Hugh’s story, The Princes Knighted. I have plans for a fourth and fifth book in the series, so I’m currently working on those.

Thanks for being here, Robin.

Thanks for having me!!
